How to Choose A Laptop – Advice Tips (Windows PC) – 2010 Q4 +sous-titres Français

In the market for a laptop? You want value for money? You already know it’s hard to upgrade the laptop’s CPU & GPU, not to mention sourcing those parts!! Buying a laptop is a step-by-step elimination process: #GPU 0:39 #HDD 1:27 #RAM 1:55 #CPU 2:19 Hope you find the video useful, share with friends & family esp. those about to make that important purchase. :D Ps I feel sorry for UK consumers. If you can order a global brand from Hong-Kong, Singapore or the US, then do it. Not only will It be cheaper (by £200-300) but better (latest Core i7 & GPU). None of that inferior crap you get in the UK. Aside: You might think: “all i want is a mid-range.” The truth is by the start of year-3 your system will start under-performing. The problem is crappy Windows. The gaming laptop owner will feel it less. Year-3 is usually the time you’ll realise that everything in the laptop is fine, screen etc.. except the CPU and GPU. Can you upgrade those? Not as easily as Desktop PCs if not, impossible. ____________________________________ Visuals: Home made. Can anyone give me laptop buying advice?

Question by preciousalloy: Can anyone give me laptop buying advice?
I have had my current laptop since the start of college. It’s a little over 5 years old and is ready to bite the dust (sadly, I love that computer). I am looking at buying a new one. However, I don’t know what to look for. I obviously want a good system but because I can’t pay more than about $ 1,000 I don’t know what to look for. I mainly use it for word processing and photography related things (and alot of them, I’m a photojournalist and travel writer) Can anyone give me some advice? I would like to go with a “mainstream” brand because I will likely need service and support in the future.
Thank you!

If you need international support go with Toshiba. If you want the best value go with Dell. Try to stick with an Intel processor for optimal performance, Core 2 Duo if possible. Since you’re travelling, you should go with a 14″ screen, to keep the weight under 6 pounds. Good luck.

Hi. The DVD play is your limiting factor. Runs off the battery for the duration of the movie. A & C are common.
