i don`t know why people are comparing it with ipad .. ipad is for commercial purpose and has tons of features this machine will never have .. this is a low cost machine developed by Indians to make technology accessible to every one .. initially it will be available only to students and probably letter will be made available to rest of the population.. might be useful for some other countries in africa and asia too ..

@depender firstly, a tablet’s BASIC functionality is way beyond the outdated tasks you mentioned; Secondly, half the tasks you mentioned weren’t mentioned in this video; To top it all of, this things low end specifications don’t seem to be anywhere near the iPad’s.

@depender1 Better then the IPad? Let’s not get crazy. I will say though that it’s great that these scientists are working to make computing truly affordable for everyone. Even though 35 – 20 dollars goes a long way for the truly impoverished it is a giant leap compared to what computing can cost today. They should be commended for their work.

@SystemError51 well android is derived from Linux kernel. so any educational institution is able to modify it and program it so that the masses can use the product. Poor people cannot buy a 300$ software so they must have thought about Linux kernel based design.
